Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and Alternative Medicine ProgramsQuality alternative medicine program information for Pacific College of Oriental MedicinePacific College of Oriental medicine Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) is an ACAOM accredited institution dedicated to teaching students the intricacies of Oriental Medicine including traditional and modern approaches. PCOM has three campuses across the United States, in San Diego, Chicago and New York. They offer Associates, Bachelors and Master degree programs in Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture and Asian Holistic Health. PCOM is the number one choice for students and health care professionals. PCOM is for students who desire to treat the whole person and not simply a compartmentalized portion of a person, i.e. a podiatrist only treats feet and an optometrist only treats eyes. Students who desire a deep understanding of the ancient and profound science of Oriental Medicine can find that at PCOM. PCOM is, also, the best choice for health care professionals who want to expand their understanding beyond modern Western medical knowledge and who believe that, medically, East and West have a lot to teach each other. In addition to its degree programs, PCOM offers courses in Asian bodywork. Students at PCOM can study Shiatsu and Thai massage. When a prospective student compares PCOM’s programs with other institutions offering degrees in Traditional Chinese medicine, PCOM is the obvious choice. National University of Health Services has Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine TCM programs. However they are not specifically focused on Asian modalities. Midwest College of Oriental Medicine is an old and respected TCM institution. Unlike PCOM they only have campuses in the Midwest. Nor do they offer massage or Holistic Health programs. PCOM is dedicated to furthering TCM throughout the United States and to validate TCM practices with modern scientific method. Every year PCOM hosts the Pacific Symposium, an internationally recognized conference on the topic of TCM. The NIH’s Office of Alternative Medicine awarded PCOM a federal grant in recognition of its efforts to apply scientific method validation to TCM.
